Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LANCCI website at lancci.org and any related services, platforms, or applications operated by the Laikipia North Community Conservation Initiative ("LANCCI", "we", "us", or "our").

By accessing or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. About LANCCI

LANCCI is a community-based conservation initiative registered in Kenya (September 2021), operating in Laikipia North. Our platform connects community members, conservation enterprises, partners, and supporters to advance community-led conservation, sustainable livelihoods, and ecosystem restoration. Our registered office is at Laipha House, 2nd Floor, Room 20, Laikipia North, Kenya.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account on our platform. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Community members under 18 may participate in LANCCI programs (such as the Youth Conservation Corps) under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or program coordinator, but may not independently hold a platform account.

3. Account Registration

When you create an account, you agree to provide truthful, current information and to keep your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@lancci.org.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, provide false information, or engage in conduct harmful to the LANCCI community.

4. Enterprise Listings

Community members may register conservation-focused social enterprises on our platform. By listing an enterprise, you represent that you have the authority to do so, that the information provided is accurate, and that the enterprise operates in a manner consistent with LANCCI's conservation mission.

LANCCI provides a platform for visibility and connection. We do not guarantee commercial outcomes, partnerships, or funding for listed enterprises. Enterprise owners are solely responsible for the legality, quality, and delivery of their goods and services.

We reserve the right to remove enterprise listings that are misleading, inactive, or inconsistent with our community guidelines and conservation values.

5. Community Guidelines

Our platform is built on mutual respect among community members, partners, and supporters. When using LANCCI services, you agree not to:

— Post content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or harmful

— Use the platform for activities unrelated to conservation or community development

— Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity

— Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform

— Use automated systems to scrape data or interfere with platform operations

— Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users

Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban at our discretion.

6. Donations

Donations made through our platform support LANCCI's conservation programs, community enterprises, and operational costs. All donations are voluntary. Unless otherwise stated, donations are non-refundable.

We strive to allocate donations in accordance with any stated purpose. However, we reserve the right to redirect funds to areas of greatest need within our conservation mission if a specific program is fully funded or discontinued.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the LANCCI platform — including text, images, logos, design elements, and software — is owned by LANCCI or used with permission. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without prior written consent.

Content you submit to the platform (enterprise descriptions, stories, images) remains yours. By submitting it, you grant LANCCI a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, share, and promote that content in connection with our mission.

8. Third-Party Services

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites, partner organizations, or payment processors. LANCCI is not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of third-party services. Your interactions with third parties are governed by their respective terms and policies.

9. Limitation of Liability

LANCCI provides its platform and services on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, LANCCI and its directors, employees, volunteers, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or via email. Continued use of our services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
